very good in every way.
Bought this to replace a 50″ vizio smart tv that picture was failing on. Love the fire tv and the included alexa. Color is great and setup was a breeze. Some said the build felt cheap to them – guess I DON’T know the difference in cheap plastic and good plastic – besides I really don’t sit around feeling the build quality.Price was really good and features are good. The remote is user friendly as is the os. I REALLY DO RECOMEND THIS TV.Had a small problem with the sound on one channel which was odd as all other channels were fine. Called their help line and customer service walked me thru a very easy fix. Still a 5 star and will include customer service in the rating.HAVE had this TCL TV for one month and I find it better than our 65″ SONY, better picture, color, sharpness just better all the way around. The one thing it lacks is a lot of color adjustments, but out of the box it really didn’t need any and if I could adjust the settings I would probably screw it up. Just buy it! UPDATE: 3 months and still very satisfied with the purchase. I did notice that one person had trouble with the optical port in hooking up his sound bar. The best way to hook up the sound bar is to use the HDMI e arc port and it works great. I have never tried the on board speakers as I am extremely satisfied with the sound bar. Will update in six months. UPDATE; Small problem due to internet going down for close to a day. When it came back on I had all smart functions. but all cable channels were gone and it was easy getting them back, but they would not open. I called TCL help line and they worked me thru the problem, but did have to reset the tv by unplugging it-waiting for a bit then plugging it in again. All was well then and I DON’T KNOW WHY, BUT THE PICTURE SEEMS TO BE EVEN BETTER THAN BEFORE. Help line was very good and stayed with this 91 year old until all was fixed’UPDATE: Close to seven months since I got the fire tv and I THINK IT WOULD BE very hard to duplicate the value. I have found that most smart tvs have issues to deal with and with the few that I had they were easy to fix myself or with a call to a very good customer service line. I would buy this in a heart beat!UPDATE: Have had this TCL tv for one year now. I am confined to four walls and a tv in a skilled nursing home and I can tell you that I appreciate and regard this as one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have had some small issues that were not the fault of the tv, but still handled by the TCL help line. They were so good to me and fixed all the little problems. It is a wonderful buy!

Great tv…great price
My older flat screen fire stick tv was having issues with internal storage. The local pastor/computer fixer upper, recommended this model. I got the 50″…it was shipped much sooner…the pastor easily connected it for me. Super bright picture. Sound is very good. I won’t need a sound bar. The menus are the same as the one I had before. My son said I got a good price on it. I’m very happy.

Good TV for Xbox series x
I replaced a 39″ 1080p LED tv with this 43″ 4k Fire TV. I like this TV very much. I stream shows from multiple apps on my Roku, but now I don’t need the Roku because this TV has all the same apps I was using. I mainly game on this TV on an Xbox series X. There are many settings available and there is an auto gaming mode that is enabled while gaming(a little icon pops up saying it’s going into gaming mode). Many settings are the same type you’d find on any brand of TV, but this has some settings that were new to me. You can set the TV speakers to automatically apply a Dolby Atmos effect which surprisingly sounds decent on the small TV speakers. Dolby Vision HDR looks great on games that support it which there are many. For the price I paid for this TV I am surprised how good this TV is and how much I like it. The TV speakers really are good enough to use on their own(No bass, good vocal audio, decent all around), I did connect the TV via Bluetooth to my stereo amplifier which is connected to Kef speakers and a subwoofer, Bluetooth sounds excellent on this TV. If you get this TV and plan to game on it with an Xbox Series X, don’t forget to adjust some of the settings on the XBOX to make sure 4k is enabled, Dolby Vision is enabled and the correct Stereo, Dolby Digital or Dolby Atmos is enabled for your sound system. On my stereo speaker only setup, Dolby Digital sounds best while gaming on XBOX.

Great Price, Not top tier, but pleasant Picture.
I bought this on Prime Day for $175 or $195 I don’t remember but it was less than $200. It’s replacing a more than 10 year old Samsung 32″ 1080p BN59. I paid $450 on a Black Friday sale for that Samsung Unit and its hasn’t diminished at all. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my Samsung, but the price for this TCL and the fact it was 4k with Dolby Vision and larger swayed me.First impressions, this is very very light, it weighs nothing compared to my old TV, which worried me at first. The Samsung feels significantly more robust and higher quality material, not just plastic, the Samsung is also much thinner even though it’s 10+ years older. This TCL is all plastic, and has a bump which makes it deeper than I expected (just like 3″ or 4″). Also the design like most new TVs means you get two legs at each end of the TV, that means you need a table at least as long as the TV. As a bedroom TV, my Samsung was on a relatively small IKEA coffee table, but since that design had one single oval base in the center of the TV it easy fit on a small table. This TV was much too big for that, and I opted for a wall mount instead. Now, aside from external build quality here are my thoughts on everything else.Picture:It’s immediately a better picture quality as much has changed in 10 years. Not just the higher resolution, but colors are brighter, blacks are darker. There’s also a fair amount of options for adjusting the video settings beyond just the normal brightness, contract, color. I always turn off motion smoothing and some of the other digital filters and overall, especially initially I was impressed with the picture. However, the quality definitely is lower than many new TVs, given the price that’s to be expected. There’s light bleeding on the edges and there are occasional pixels or sections that don’t seem to color match correctly, or handle color grading. Part of the issue today is everything is streaming so the quality and picture can depend on those services. But there are enough settings and even the preset options lead me to believe most people will be pleased with the picture.Audio:The TV says it has Dolby Atmos but these are trash speakers like most built in speakers are. I highly recommend external speakers, a sound bar, or full sound system. I am using some Logitech Computer Speakers with a Subwoofer and that’s perfect. Fortunately when plugging into the audio out jack you can change the settings to still control the volume. It also has built-in Bluetooth so you can wirelessly connect to a soundbar or headphones. That’s very convenient as I previously had a Bluetooth adapter.Software:This is an Amazon Fire TV so the built in software is what it is. Not my favorite layout but it has it’s strengths. They also recently did a new layup update which is cleaner. The downside with any built in software system is it will eventually get slow and outdated. It already doesn’t feel as fast as a Roku, but that’s ok it’s perfectly good for now and I prefer not having multiple devices and remotes. If your not familiar with Fire TVs they have their own app store and everything you need to watch the vast majority of apps and streaming services right on the TV.This TV supposedly supports ATSC 3.0 Nextgen TV, but when I plugged an Antenna in it was impossible to distinguish which channels were the old ones or the new ones. In my area those are all in the 100+ range but the TV might not necessarily display them there even if it picks them up. Even so the tuner was good, picked up better signal than my previous TV.The TV has several HDMI ports, optical Audio out, analog audio in and out, USB for power and a coaxial in.The Remote is light and slim, has channel and volume adjustments, 4 preprogrammed buttons (Disney, Netflix, Prime Video, Prime Music). Settings, Seeking, directional pad, and Alexa button.Performance:The TV appears to go into a sleep mode when the power button is pushed, it wakes quickly but unplugging it takes longer to boot. There’s an ozone smell still coming from it as it heats up, but I expect the more it runs that will fade. It’s had some strange flickering but it’s hard to tell if that was a streaming issue or a TV issue.Overall I think this TV is very solid for the money. I miss a few things from my old TV, and there’s no question that TV was built to last, only time will tell with this one, but for the price it’s definitely worth the risk. The picture, built in software and apps, and Bluetooth make this an easy upgrade.
